2019 Goals: Six Month Review + July Goals

Happy July, ya'll! I seriously can't believe we are halfway through 2019. Time just flew, ya’ll! Anyways, let's get on to why you're here: to see how I’ve been doing with my goals this year. Spoiler alert: I was so one of those people who forgot about her goals by mid-February! Well, I didn’t forget them; I just didn’t make them a priority once work got really busy for me.

But it’s a new month, and we only have half of 2019 left, so I am inspired again and determined to end this year on the highest of high notes! So I’ve decided to review my goals and share what I plan to do to get back on track this month:

2019 goals six month review

Goal One: Become a well-watered woman.

So I was doing pretty okay with reading the Bible because I was in a Bible Study Fellowship group that met once a week, and I really enjoyed that! But it ended in May and doesn’t start back up until September, so ever since then, I have really been slacking. However, I do have some old printed BSF studies since I joined late this year, so I could use those to follow through with until BSF starts.

Also, can we talk about my prayer life for a sec? It is almost nonexistent at this point, and I honestly feel embarrassed to say that, but if I put it out here then I have no choice but to hold myself accountable and change.

July goal: Read the Word by going through the old BSF study and pray daily.

Goal Two: Make my health (physical, mental, emotional) a priority.

I actually did pretty well with this goal until work started to pick up and I got super busy! I attempted two Whole30’s (got to Day 15 for both of them, ha!), and was taking time for myself every now and then. But again, work is SUPER busy right now and when you add a toddler to the mix, I am honestly struggling to put my health first. On top of that, July is Toby’s and Eli’s birthday month, so it’s about to get a little cray over here. But, I can still find a small way to focus on my health this month.

July goal: I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself since I have A LOT of work things coming up, so I’ll just focus on doing this 7-Day Hygge Challenge.

Goal Three: A marriage goal.

July goal: Make Toby feel loved and special for his birthday.

Goal Four: Be a more intentional mom.

This has honestly been my BIGGEST struggle! Work has required me to be on my phone or laptop a lot. I try to get most of my work done when Eli is asleep, but I do honestly find myself also working when he’s awake. This usually means that I am just plopping him in front of the TV for a couple of hours a day. While I do take him to the library or a toddler learning space during the week, I still feel bad that I am constantly distracted by work. If anyone has any tips for this work-from-home and motherhood life balance, please leave them below!

July goal: Establish and stick to a new daily routine for Eli, and work only when he’s asleep. If I HAVE to get something done while he is awake, I will tackle it first thing in the morning so that we have the rest of the day together.

Goal Five: Live a simple and minimal(ish) life.

For the most part, living minimally has been pretty easy - we don’t purchase or accumulate much stuff because we live in such a tiny apartment. But I do know I can focus on slowing down a bit more. Again, the goal for July is tiny, baby steps.

July goal: This is going to sound silly, but one way I can live more simply and slow down is to make simple dinners. Since I like to cook, sometimes my meals are elaborate or take a long time, which is not a good thing when I am already busy and tired. So I am going to make it a point to make dinners simple and quick: 30 minutes or less with just a protein, a carb, and a veggie. Boom. Dinner done.

Goal Six: Make home well and good.

I think I’ve done pretty well in this area, so all I need to do is just maintain what I’ve been doing: using cleaner and safer products, eating more clean, and trying to make our home a safe haven.

July goal: Evening family walks. I know this technically takes place outside of our home, but I just love our family walks after dinner! We’ve been doing this since maybe March or April, and it just helps us to reconnect and relax at the end of our days.

Goal Seven: Work His way.

Okay, so I didn’t really have any goals, other than to just be obedient to what God wanted me to do. BUT, the Lord has blessed me with more clients and work, and as I keep saying. I am so busy! I know I need to keep my head down and just power through this month because I can see how much this will benefit my family and I if I don’t give up.

July goal: Finish the mastermind I am in and apply all that I am learning, and land my dream client. (Dream Client, if you’re out there, you’re a mommy blogger who needs help with building a raving community around your blog through social media. I’d love to help you with that!)

Goal Eight: More (passive) streams of income.

Oh, I’ve been working hard and going hard on coming up with ways to generate more income. Just wait on it, folks. It’s coming!

July goal: finalize two methods of passive streams of income.

I know I said that I would love to read 1-2 books a month, but I just don’t have the capacity to read a book this month. So I’ll pick back up on reading next month!

Welp, those are my goals, folks! July is gonna be a good month - I can feel it! How are ya’ll doing with your goals? Share 'em with me in the comments!
