Birthday Weekend Recap

Can I be honest? This is gonna sound so prideful, but I just want to pat myself on the back for pulling off Toby's birthday, and being able to surprise him (which is not an easy thing, let me tell you). If you follow me on social media, then you pretty much know what we did last Thursday, but for those who don't follow me (no hard feelings!) or for those who want more details or inspiration, here's the breakdown!

        These cupcakes were AMAZING!

The night before his birthday, I had gotten him cupcakes from his favorite cake shop called A Piece of Cake and gave it to him, along with a card, because a) I couldn't hide that big box anywhere and b) I reaaaaalllllly wanted to try that carrot cake cupcake! Haha. The next morning, I paid for us to rent a super nice car (don't ask what type it was because I am so not a car girl! All I know was that it was super new!) and then I told Toby to head to the mall, where I bought him a birthday outfit that he picked out. Although he picked out a very nice outfit, we were running behind time and he never got to put it on (sad face).

From there, we had to make a pit stop to the DMV because I lost my license two days before and i needed it for the next place we were going to (go figure). Thankfully, I was basically in and out, and we made our way to our next destination: the gun range! Neither of us had ever been to a gun range and we have never even held a gun, let alone shot one! I was so nervous, but by the end I was really enjoying myself! Toby was having way too much fun shooting rounds and I can tell that I made the right choice in taking him there.

We left our session early because we had  reservations at this amazing restaurant in Atlanta called Two Urban Licks, in which we were joined by my sister and friend. Let me tell ya'll: that place is amazing! While it is extremely pricey, the food, atmosphere, and service were so worth it! I can't wait to go there again one day for date night.

I had scallops, grits with Gouda cheese,    and salsa!

Toby had steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans

By this time, it is almost 10 p.m. and it is time for the final activity for the evening: an improv show! We met my best friend, Nigeria, and her boyfriend at Dad's Garage and enjoyed a night of laughter at the improv show. It was definitely a great way to end the night!

Although the day was quite busy and sometimes stressful (we were running behind schedule and I am a stickler for time), it was all worth it to have Toby repeatedly give me a kiss and say "thank you so much, baby, for making my birthday amazing." That right there, my friends, is the Wife of the Year Award I was after.

What did you do for your significant other's birthday?
